Re: Strikeforce: Nashville...tomorrow free on CBS

Yeah, the prelims were aired on Saturday live right before the main card on ppv.  The only prelim fight that didn't make it to Spike was the Kendall Grove v. Goran Relic snooze-fest to a decision.

Monkey, I was with you thinking the bulk of the card didn't look that exciting, but every single fight was a pretty damn good fight minus the aforementioned Grove v. Relic fight.

Not really sure how excited I am about the next card though.  Silva is always someone I like to watch, but I'm just not fond of the Sonnen matchup at all, it doesn't spell entertaining fight to me...but hopefully I'm wrong.  The fight that would really get me to buy that ppv would actually be the Fitch v. Alves rematch, that should be a decent fight.

It is about time Jon Jones gets tested with a quality opponent. Jon vs Franklin maybe?

Re: Strikeforce: Nashville...tomorrow free on CBS

As much as I'd love to see Jones take on Machida, Machida is already scheduled to take on Rampage coming up here soon...and with the LW belt currently on hold due to Shogun's injury, it will likely be a fight or two (with wins of course) before Jones gets a shot at the belt.

I think Loco may be on to something with the Franklin suggestion.  Given Franklin's win over Liddell, after a KO loss to Belfort, Franklin is in a great position to fight a guy like Jones.

Other options to me would be Rashad (though he will likely get next title shot), Rogerio Nogueria, or Ryan Bader.  Thiago Silva would also be an intriguing matchup, but I'm not sure about his health status?

...or even a rematch with Matt Hamill.

Yeah, Rashad is gonna sit out till he can get the match with Rua. What I would like to see fer Jones is: Rematch with Hamill to erase that loss, then either Franklin or the loser of Machida/Rampage. Altho, everyone knows he already handled Hamill so I dont really see it happening. Jones really wouldn't gain much ranking from it.

Re: Strikeforce: Nashville...tomorrow free on CBS

Well, it seems, based on Dana's latest ramblings, that Franklin, Machida , and Rampage are all out of the mix....Franklin is still recovering from injury...and with the Machida v. Rampage fight slated for Nov, it would be an awful shame to make a guy like Jones wait that long for his next matchup.  The winner of the Ryan Bader v. Little Nog fight in Sep is appearing to be the most likely opponent, considering most all the viable opponents for Jones are either currently on the mend or already scheduled to fight in the coming months.  I guess we shall see, but I'm stoked for his next fight either way!

On to other MMA news, the Silva v. Sonnen title fight is tomorrow night, with a co-main event of Roy "Big Country" Nelson v. Junior Dos Santos.  I'll definitely be ordering it and watching Dos Santos earn himself a shot at Lesnar (which is not an envious prize in my opinion LOL), but I'd honestly have a hard time putting money on the Silva fight.

Of course, on paper Silva should just wreck Sonnen, and aside from the barrage of nonstop shit talk, no one even knew Sonnen's name prior to this outside of non-casual MMA fans...in this case though, one can't help but wonder if some of that continuous shit talk has got Sonnen in the Spider's head?  Well, that and Sonnen does have a legit ground game and heavy hands.  I'm far from the point of saying I think Sonnen will win, I just think it's going to be the most entertaining Silva fights any one has ever seen for one reason or the other.  In other words, I hope all my MMA fan TRC brethren get the chance to tune in as well.  Have a great weekend crew!!! smile
